HOW TO REACH KEDARKANTHA TREK

The Kedarkantha trek is not very challenging. Once you are in Dehradun, you can easily reach the base camp using local transport

BY AIR:-The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is approximately 25 km from the city. Dehradun is served by a daily flight from Delhi. To reach the base camp, use a cab or take public transport after arrival in Dehradun.

BY TRAIN:-From Delhi, you can take a train to Dehradun. There are frequent trains from Delhi to Dehradun, so you can take an overnight train from Delhi to Dehradun and then take a private vehicle or bus to Sankri.

BY ROAD:-You can take regular buses from Delhi to Dehradun. Delhi government buses run, so it is recommended that you take a bus from Kashmere Gate in Delhi to Dehradun. After reaching Dehradun, you can use public transport or hire a private vehicle to reach Sankri.

KEDARKANTHA TREK PACKAGE DETAILS

It takes around 5 days to complete the Kedarkantha trek route map. The hiking distance can also be covered in 6 or 7 days. Because you don’t usually go on solo trek tours in this area, you’ll need to proceed according to your guide’s recommendations; However, the best time would be 5 days, and the schedule for that is given below

DAY 1: DEHRADUN TO SANKRI:-

The base camp of the Kedarkantha trek is at Sankri, which is about 186 km from Dehradun. So, the Kedarkantha trek starts at Sankri, and you can reach there by both rail and road to Dehradun. You can alternatively come by plane and then take a local bus or hire a vehicle or cab to reach the base camp area.

DAY 2: SANKRI TO JUDA KA TAAL:-

For your safety, your teachers will give you spikes and gaiters to wear during the trip. On the second day of the walk, you will have to cover a total distance of 5 km from Sankri to Juda Ka Taal. You’ll start by walking for 10 minutes to warm up. You will pass through Swargarohini on the way and reach Juda Ka Taal in the afternoon, where you will spend the night.

DAY 3: JUDA KA TAAL TO KEDARKANTHA BASE CAMP:-

On the third day, you will start making Juda Ka Taal and by late evening you will reach the base camp of Kedarkantha, where you can enjoy the peace of nature and spend the night there after lunch. The altitude of this place is around 11,200 feet, and the total trekking distance on the third day will be 3 to 4 km.

DAY 4: KEDARKANTHA BASE CAMP TO KEDARKANTHA:-

It will be a long day as you will have to travel 6 km. You will spend some time exploring the surrounding areas before sitting down to have your lunch. You will leave after lunch and come back from the peak. On the same day, you will see Black Peak, Gangotri, Bandarpoonch, and many other places on the way before proceeding toward Hargaon.

DAY 5: HARGAON TO SANKRI TO DEHRADUN:-

You will return to Sankri and then to Dehradun on the last day of your trip. The total distance to be covered on the last day is also roughly 6 km, so it will be a long and relaxing day. On your return, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the local communities and take a break in between meals.
